The fourth candle of Advent represents Love, the ultimate love of God that He might send His only Son for us. Called the “Angel's Candle,” the fourth candle of Advent is lit the Sunday before Christmas, and it is the color purple, leading us to eagerly await the new Kingdom of God on earth.

 Joy is the dominant theme of our liturgy on this, the 3rd Sunday of Advent.

• Advent Wreath: A circular arrangement of evergreen branches holding four (sometimes five) candles. One candle is lit each Sunday, with the light growing brighter as Christmas approaches, symbolizing the light of Christ.  Each week of Advent focuses on a specific theme:

  • Hope: The first candle (Prophecy Candle).

  • Peace: The second candle (Bethlehem Candle).

  • Joy: The third candle (Shepherd's Candle), typically rose or pink, lit on Gaudete Sunday.

  • Love: The fourth candle (Angel's Candle).

The "Christ the King" feast, celebrated on the last Sunday of the liturgical year, emphasizes that Jesus is the divine King of the Universe, not a political ruler. His kingship is one of love and service.

Practice obedience: Live with an attitude of obedience, doing what is right today to avoid regret tomorrow. Acknowledge God in all your ways, and he will direct your path.
