Tour of the Cathedral

Cross on top of Spire

The first cross was dislodged from the spire during a storm in 1883 this is now over the Bethal family grave in Mt. St. Laurence. A cross was then erected and this was replaced in 2003 this cross can now be seen in the Cathedral grounds the cross which is now on the spire is four foot high and made from stainless steel, the reason for such a small cross compared to the old ones is due to the high winds which sweep around the spire causing damage the stone on which the cross is mounted.
